Why Did I Buy That?

* The outing to Castleward is next Thursday 25th April. The bus leaves at 9.30am from the Arts Centre and returning around 4.30pm.

 We had a 'Why Did I Buy That? sale at Harmony Hill yesterday to raise some funds for our chosen charity. This year we're supporting Fybromyalgia. There wasn't as much on the tables as usual.  It was the first day of the Creative Crafts Show at the Kings Hall and some of our members were off to buy more craft stuff there!

There were signs of people working towards the exhibition.
Here's one of Laura's 'mossy pieces' --  I think our group project will be an interesting display.

This is Carolyn's 'Flight of Fancy.'  Up , up and away in a hot air balloon. A work in progress.

Another WIP. Judy's been working at these poppies for years!

Patsy's 'Flight of Fancy' is taking her to outer space.

Janet is mending a sequinned top. Is she planning to wear it to the opening?!

Bernadette is making a summer dress.

Her 'Flight of Fancy' is to somewhere sunny and warm!

Back after Easter.

* Belfast Creative Craft Show is on Thursday April 18th: 10am - 8pm and Friday 19th & Saturday 20th: 10am - 5pm at the Kings Hall.
We are having a 'Why did I buy That?'  next Thursday 18th and the following Thursday 25th April is the group outing to Castleward.

It was a slow start back after the Easter Break. There was a very colourful exhibition in both gallery spaces by Feltmakers North. It took us a while to look around and examine all the exhibits. Unfortunately no photos allowed without form filling and passes in the Arts Centre so I can't show any of the work but you can look here.
I really liked the way the exhibition was hung - with pieces around the room and others suspended from the ceiling. There were hats, scarves, waistcoats, jackets, vessels and bowls, cute felted animals, balls, bags, jewellery, hangings and pictures. I think I even saw a chess set.
Everyone enjoyed seeing this local groups work and we were all impressed with the very high standard shown for their first exhibition.

Our own exhibiton is coming up soon and before the Easter break Yvonne had put in a request for us to knit some 'mossy pieces' for our group display.  Sylvia had knitted up her caravan curtain, Laura had made two pieces on plastic canvas and Maureen had come right out of her comfort zone and received a round of applause for her creative piece!  Unfortunately, as I was about to take photos, we had a fire alarm and had to evacuate the building.  It turned out to be a false alarm but we all packed up and went home after that!
Yes, it was a slow start back for HHCG.
