Deep Button Stool Masterclass

This Thursday we had a masterclass given by Majella
She gave us valuable hints and tips on how to deep button and pleat a footstool.
Majella, thank you it was a very professional and enjoyable demonstration I think we all learned a lot.

Tools of the trade

well finished legs and base for the foam

cutting the foam using a sharpened piece of copper piping

Placing the fabric into the holes to make the pleats
Lovely diamond pleats

Hard work on the hands using the staplegun

Nearly there

perfect finish

Here's one I did earlier.buttoned leather chair seat.

Tailor Maid

We had a very entertaining morning last Thursday with many a giggle and laugh.
Lucy Smith had brought along three glamorous models,
Bernie released by Vogue for the day , Norma from the gossip columns and Sylvia who brought a little royalty to the morning.

Lucy is an expert at creating new clothes from old. behind you can see half a plain wool coat.
Below is the other half made to look really sumptuous with the addition of a cut up cushion !!

Here we have our lovely model loaned to us for the day and Lucy is demonstrating how to change the length of an evening dress

going down ............

going down some more........

Our model ready for cocktails

Here we have the "Royal"look ably modeled by Sylvia,
Note the large sweater and tweed skirt!

Now see how much our model has changed
The jumper has given her a tabard and leg warmers and the skirt has become a cape .
She is already for the races

Thank you Sylvia
We are lucky to have Norma as she is usually
seen only on the hot gossip magazines

Lucy is converting a long tweed coat into three or four very different outfits.

This is the Chanel look

If you check the website above you will be able to read about it.
My photos have ended up out in the ether somewhere along with those of the next meeting which was a talk by Lois Malone about her relative who traveled to New York to work for Singer Sewing machines.
Jessie Gillies Trainer Maxwell a woman ahead of her time . She worked on Swiss Embroider machines.

On the 15th we had a pot luck lunch with a talk from Rosana. We have supported her charity
