About

In 1984 a small group of enthusiastic craftswomen - four, in fact - got together in the then newly opened Art Centre at Harmony Hill, Lisburn, Co Antrim, to pursue their individual 'crafty' interests.
The group has grown steadily, from the original four,  to a current membership of thirty women.
In 2001 the Art Centre at Harmony Hill closed when the old house, with its extensive grounds, was sold for development and the new Civic Centre and Arts Centre opened at what is now called 'The Island' - originally the site of a textile factory on the banks of the River Lagan, Lisburn. This impressive facility, opened by Her Majesty The Queen, became the new home for the group who meet on a Thursday morning 10.30am - 12.30pm from September - June.
Members work individually within the group, embracing a wide variety of crafts both traditional and contemporary. Throughout the year there are demonstrations, workshops and occasional guest speakers. As individuals, we also like to visit shows, exhibitions, museums and galleries as well as participating in an annual group outing to a craft related venue.
Our popular Annual Exhibition is held every May and, over the years, the group have established a reputation for the expertise of its members and the quality of their work.
Somehow, each year, a substantial body of new work appears from our members for the exhibition, but generally our Thursday morning meetings are more about socialising than productivity!
